Who Exactly Is The Ipad Marketed Towards?

I’ve seen the recent commercials for the iPad and I’m at a bit of a loss for words. Sure it seems great and everything, but who exactly is it marketed towards? What demographic is it trying to reach?

I’m not sure of Apple’s real intentions on this one. I’m thinking they released the product to see what kind of response they’ll get with it. Maybe people will come up with some good uses and Apple will tweak the product later on.
The link in my sources shows a few novel ideas on how the iPad COULD be used.

I don’t think that the iPad is a FAIL, but the name sure is. The biggest reason is because it sounds too close to iPod, and internationally speaking that is a problem. For example, in Japan they will not be able to say the iPad without it sounding like iPod, naturally that is. The way English speakers say iPod now, sounds like how the Japanese will say iPad. I think there is an opening in the marketing department of Apple. I am really shocked and let down by this name and by the lack of thought behind it.

i have been wondering the same thing. i can see women carrying one in their purse instead of the two books & ipod they usually carry, but until apple makes ipants with ipockets big enough i dont see men carrying it around. can you imagine the laughs when some guy pulls one of these out of his “european man purse”. the name is a mistake not only because of the implications but also because fujitsu released a handheld device for businesses called an ipad in 2007 & is not happy with apple stealing thier registered copyright name. as far i can tell, the ipad will allow you to read books play music & surf the web & watch videos, except flash videos.but not at the same time,,, no multitasking,,, plus any other cute things app devs will come up with. the screen is big enough that you cant type with thumb taps, so you have to type two handed which means you have to set it down to type, but that is a hassle because of the curved back which causes it to wobble when typing.
personally i would go the lenovo ideapad, which is the same thing but it comes with a keyboard folding case which when docked changes to windows 7 OS so you can use it as a netbook. the ipad cant do that. so boiling it all down it is nothing more than the jolly green giant’s ipod.

they are trying to get those people who like the e books and use an amazon kindle or a sony reader.
they are basically saying if your gonna waste your money on a digital book holder you might as well get all this other cool stuff along with it. i think they will buy it becasue its pretty much the same price

People that would be sitting around watching TV

it targets to electronic book reading and web surfing like the amazon kindle. They want the book readers to buy it because it will have this virtual book app.

In my opinion, People who go out to places alot, like Traveling, school/College, Trips, etc, but me I would prefer a Macbook and an iPod Touch

People with massive hands that want an iPod Touch.

people who don’t feel satisfied with a laptop and a smart phone

people who have money and are bored
